Saving on Energy Bills

I don't know about you but energy bills are something I dread every month. They seem to get bigger and bigger and it's very difficult to know what to do about it. There is a lot of "advice" on how to reduce your energy bills but sometimes this info is a bit confusing. They keep saying to reduce the heating temperature by 10% but when you do this you will realize that there is actually a point where if you reduce your temperature so much that you actually aren't saving any money. Basically there is an optimum level. It's like driving a car. There is a speed that is perfect for your car's weight to power ratio.

Not only should you reduce the temperature of your boiler and airconditionin but you should also make sure that your home is really well insulated. When we moved into our home there was next to no isulation. Also the windows were very drafty. The result was that our heating bills were massive and our house was freezing. BTW, check out insulation r value.

Make sure that you insulate your home, ventilate the attic, have energy efficient boilers and all that sort of thing. When you do this you will really see improvements in your bills. Although of cours you should always compare utility companies as they will vary a lot from company to company. However this won't help you save the environment.
